DMZ Bar & Restaurant
DMZ Bar & Restaurant
Established in 1994 as a small restaurant hidden on Le Loi street with a capacity of only about 40 guests, DMZ Ba has become the first bar in Hue, a weekend destination for experts Deminers worked in Quang Tri, a group of foreign businessmen who came to do business in the Central region after the country opened, along with tourists who came to Hue curious to learn about post-war Vietnam.
Back then, DMZ Ba had only 5-7 employees, serving some simple western-style cocktails along with a fridge of chilled beer and a few wines. This place also witnessed many ups and downs of the formation and development of a neighborhood with many restaurants, hotels, and eateries that later Hue people called “Western Quarter”.
So far, after more than 26 years, DMZ has become a brand in the hearts of tourists when coming to Hue, not only a simple bar but also a travel business company specializing in providing guest services. Hotels, restaurants, bars and tourist information support centers, is a link in most guidebooks around the world when it comes to destinations in Vietnam.
The name DMZ (short for “Demilitarized Zone” meaning “De-militarized Zone”) was born based on the idea from the event after the GENÈVE agreement (July 20, 1954). Vietnam is temporarily divided into two regions, taking the Ben Hai River (Quang Tri) as the demarcation line. From the riverbank, 5km on both sides is defined as the demilitarized zone of Hoa Binh, DMZ Ba is like a bridge to introduce tourists, especially international tourists to a Vietnam that loves peace. It is an entertainment and dining destination for tourists when coming to Hue.
