Da Nang Hospital was established before 1945, with the original name of Hospital de Danang. The campus is located on Hung Vuong Street (now TW2 Medical College) under the Danang Department of Health and part of the Pharmacy Area). The hospital in turn was named Hospital Indigène de Danang, Danang Hospital, Danang General Medical Center.

In 1965, the hospital was moved to its present location. Since 1970, with the help of Malteser organization, Danang General Medical Center has developed the number of hospital beds up to 1,000 beds (including 200 beds of Da Nang C Hospital).

After 1975, the hospital was again named Da Nang Hospital, under the Department of Health of Quang Nam-Da Nang province.

In 1997, Da Nang city became a city directly under the Central Government, Da Nang Hospital under the Department of Health of Da Nang city.

In January 2003, Da Nang Hospital was officially upgraded to a Grade I hospital.
